One of our friends recently asked what we thought about a bridesmaid asking if she could take her baby along on a bachelorette party trip, because that's what one of her friends wants to do. As if that wasn't bad enough, she wanted to bring their husbands along to supposedly watch the baby. In Vegas!
This is wrong on so many levels. Bachelorette parties and babies don't mix. And husbands and bachelorette parties don't mix—unless it's a his and hers bachelortte party, which is another story.
While we can appreciate that it's challenging to find child care and that some women have a hard time leaving their babies at home, this set up really isn't fair to the bride or the other women on the trip. If one husband comes, other husbands and boyfriends may want to, turning this into a couple's trip, which may not be what the bride had in mind.
Plus, it's hard to really let lose and have fun when you're wondering if your friend's husband is going to be watching, judging and possibly telling your fiance what you're doing. Even if you're not doing anything that crazy, stories have a way of gaining momentum and sounding worse when someone else is telling them.
So to our friend, we think she should politely suggest to the other woman that she leave her husband and baby at home. If that's not an option, plan a smaller separate party at home so she can attend. Besides, babies are too young to play blackjack!
